My All-Time Favorite Beauty Products

favorite beauty products

Over the past few years of wearing makeup, I’ve tried hundreds of products. In fact, if I think about how often I go through a tube of mascara, the costs really add up. While I do buy mostly drugstore products, I splurge every now and then on a higher-end brand. Through lots of trial and error, I’ve found a bunch of products that simply don’t work- and a few that do. I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite beauty products.

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion– This is by far the best beauty product out there, in my opinion. If you don’t wear eye shadow, you may not understand the amazingness of this product. For my daily beauty routine, especially at work, I usually skip the eye shadow. However, some days I put on a neutral shade. When I go out at night, go to an event, or are taking photos, I like to experiment with eye shadow shades, and that’s where the primer comes into play. All I do is swipe a little of this on and blend on my lids a few minutes before applying my eye shadow. It keeps the shadow on all day- seriously. It also makes eye shadow that isn’t very pigmented appear pigmented- which is great. I’ve found that it also keeps my eyeliner on pretty well. Although it does cost a pretty penny, it lasts for a long time and is totally worth it.

2. C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve– I’ve tried so many lip glosses, balms and chapsticks over the years and this is my favorite to-date. I had heard everyone rave about it for a while, and finally picked some up last fall. I’m still using the same little tin and it’s been over a year, so you definitely get your money’s worth. My favorite part about this product is the smell- it’s hard to describe how beautiful it smells. It is a clear and shiny salve that nourishes your lips, stays on for a good amount of time, and doesn’t produce those yucky white globs on the sides of your mouth like some chapsticks do.

3. Covergirl Professional Natural Lash Mascara– I used to use this as my mascara throughout junior high and most of high school. It didn’t do that much for my looks sadly, it just coated them and made them shiny. What I really use this clear mascara/brow gel for is to tame my eyebrows. After applying powder or wax, I brush them up and use this to keep them in place. It also comes in handy for those baby-hair flyaways around your hairline. I just swipe them once with this gel and they’re set for the day.

What are your all-time favorite beauty products?

  1. I love seeing what other people use! I’ve been using the rose salve forever, it’s such a great lip balm and in a jam you can use it to tame flyaways or as a cuticle cream.

  2. I’ve used clear mascara for my brows before, but never thought of using it to tame fly-aways! I’m really looking forward to trying it since I get little “wispy” hairs when my bangs are pulled back.

  3. estee lauder double wear foundation, hard candy glamoflauge – which is the BEST concealer ever! and my brow liner from mac. 🙂

  4. bingo bingo bingo on the urban decay that stuff is amazing and i use nothing else!! my eyeshadow is  stuck like glue onto my eyelids love it! and now it makes me want to break out into the song by sugarland stuck like glue!

  5. My all time favorites would have to be my MAC liquidlast eyeliner because it doesn’t budge ALL day, my Benefit Brow Zings because it’s portable and lasts for yearsss and lastly my beauty blender! I wasn’t a believer until I got one in my Birchbox and now I’ve converted!

  6. Can you believe I still have never tried that C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve?! I hear it’s amazing. Love this list of your favorites! Thanks for the info. xo, Julie

  7. I love the UD primer but I was going through the bottle like crazy and it was getting expensive! Now I just use my tinted moisturizer as an eyeshadow primer.

  8. I need to try the Cover Girl for my unruly eyebrows.:)  I’ve been known to just spray a little hairspray onto a mascara wand and just brush them into place that way.  oops.:)

  9. Thanks for those suggestions Rachel!  I’m always on the hunt for new beauty products to try.  On another note, I don’t know how I missed your “copycat” post.  I just went back to read it, and that it awful!  I can totally see being inspired by other bloggers, but to completely rip them off is crazy.  Wow, could for you for contacting the other blogger.  I really hope everything works out for you.

  10. Rachel, you are a genius! I never thought about using clear mascara for eyebrows! I need to try this! 🙂 I’m also a huge eyeshadow person so I need to get the primer too! I’m going to sephora this weekend for birthday presents for myself, I think I need to pick it up!

  11. Thanks so much for sharing Rachel! I am ALWAYS excited to hear beauty suggestions and I love the idea of using clear mascara to tame flyways! I have tons of those annoying little hairs around my face LOL! I am definitely going to give that a try!
