Florals & Stripes

florals and stripes

When it comes to mixing patterns, I like to keep it simple. I personally don’t think wearing a crazy printed top and then pants with another crazy print makes you look “fashionable”, I just think it makes you look like you’re trying too hard. One thing I can appreciate is subtle print mixing, like mixing a combination of stripes, florals, or polka dots. The key is to just keep it simple and keep the pieces in the same color scheme. When the outfit itself should be the focal point, I keep the shoes and jewelry simple. What are your tips for mixing prints?

  2. I can’t do the heavy print mixing either. Stripes and florals always look so clean, though. Love this outfit!

  3. Love the print mixing! Totally agree – a crazy top with a crazy bottom usually comes off as trying to hard. Stripes and florals are my favorite way to mix prints!

The stripes and floral, however, is a look I can get behind. Makes a statement in a nice, subtle way.

I agree- you have to walk the print-mix line carefully to keep from venturing into Try Hard Territory. You’ve mastered it! 🙂

I am a new follower. Love your blog

  11. LOVE LOVE your stripes and floral combo! That skirt makes your legs look SUPER long and your shirt isn’t a super bold stripe. You did a fab job with your pattern mixing! I agree with you, if you have 2 patterns, you should have something neutral too. I wore a polka dot sweater with a gingham shirt underneath, but with a tan skirt and nude shoes today.

  12. I hope my Pattern mixing series didnt make you think i was crazy because some of mine were pretty cra! I think the key is to stick with a color pallet. then go nuts with the patterns but one should def be the solid anchor piece like the striped top you have on or a polkadot top.
