No, I didn’t type “blogging” incorrectly (although it’s common since the V and B are next to one another on the keyboard), I actually did mean to title this”Vlogging”. Video blogging. Youtube. You figure it out.
Anyway, I’ve been an avid follower of some Vloggers on Youtube for a while now. Whether it’s to watch a haul of what a blogger just bought on sale, a tutorial on how to get wavy hair or a video of someone just talking about their opinions, I find them highly useful and/or entertaining. A lot of what people vlog about is similar to what I blog about, but just in video form instead of writing. I enjoy writing more than talking, so I prefer to have a blog.
Recently, my boyfriend’s female coworker sent him an article she found on NPR about the success of these vloggers- specifically fashion and beauty ones. She knows I run a fashion/lifestyle blog and thought I may be interested. I’ve had quite a few readers e-mail me and ask me to do a video of how I curl my hair or what my beauty routine is like, so I’ve had this idea in my head for a while now.
So the question is– would you guys watch videos if I made them? Knowing me, I’d probably do a few beauty/hair ones, some fashion ones, and then some ones where I just make fun of celebrities or tell jokes. Because that’s how I am. Although I worry about how awkward I would be on camera, I think it might be sort of fun. And I do get lots of requests for videos, and I’m a people-pleaser, so….
My second question is what types of things would you like to see me do videos of. It can be about anything- makeup, hair, fashion, my personal life, etc. Seriously- anything. Leave your suggestions in the comments or e-mail me them if you don’t want it posted publicly. I figured for my first “official” vlog I would just answer reader questions as a “Get to Know Rachel” type of thing. So shoot me your questions for that- stuff like “What’s your most embarrassing moment” is totally cool with me- I’m ready to let it all hang out. Figuratively, of course. I will be wearing clothes in the video, don’t worry.
