As a petite woman, the thought of wearing a shirt dress scares me. The entire concept of a shirt dress is a dress that fits more like a shirt, meaning it’s loose and comfortable with the sophisticated button-up style of most blouses. However, when you’re skinny and short, items like this can totally overwhelm your frame. Luckily, there are a handful of designers out there that cater to petite women, including my new favorite, Gambita.
Gambita is an online retailer created to sell clothes exclusively for petite women. Can I get an Amen? I’ve been waiting to find a store like this forever, and I’m so grateful to Brenna for introducing me to Caroline’s awesome shop and business venture.
This Paper Crown silk dress fits like a dream. It’s incredibly comfortable, yet still dressy enough for work. My office is business-casual, meaning that a cute shirt dress and tights are more on the dressy end of the spectrum. I decided to belt my shirt dress to emphasize my waist and elongate my frame- someone all petite women should try.
To finish off the dress, I added some black tights (it’s chilly here in NJ!), my go-to Longchamp work bag and a pair of Sam Edelman flats I just invested in. They are super comfortable so far, so let’s pray no blisters form!
Are you a fan of shirt dresses? If you’re petite, how do you wear them?
