You guys- I met Chelsea Handler this past weekend. If you know anything about me, you know I adore her. I liked her before she was really “famous”, I have read all her books and tried not to pee my pants throughout and generally just think she kicks ass. So when I randomly saw a tweet that she would be doing a book signing 15 minutes away from me, I knew I had to go. My boyfriend’s sister Danielle is also a huge Chelsea fan, so we headed over to Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ to wait in line.
Chelsea was doing a signing for her new book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, which is all about a safari trip in Africa. How can you write an entire book about a trip, you ask? Well you clearly haven’t read any of her old books… Although I haven’t started to read this one yet- after all, I just got it on Saturday- I can’t wait until I have some free time so I can begin.
We waited in line for about an hour (the line was huge and the room was filled) and then the line moved quickly and smoothly. Sadly, because Chelsea had a show later that night at MSG, the book signing was very quick. You couldn’t take photos with her (only photos from the line) and the interaction was limited. Still, it was amazing to get a book signed and personalized by one of my favorite comedians and to get to say “Hi, I love you!” to her. Okay, I didn’t say those words exactly, but you get my point. Chelsea was super sweet and looked so pretty.
