Pantone® Color Trends for Fall 2024

I love covering Pantone’s “Color of the Year” here on the blog (seriously, they should be paying me at this point). Each year (and sometimes each season,) they predict which colors will be trending. They recently released the Pantone® Fashion Color Trend Report Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 edition for New York Fashion Week (NYFW). These Pantone color trends are imbued with a rich, earthy quality that underscores our profound connection to nature. This palette features a blend of warm hues inspired by natural pigments, luxurious mid-tones, versatile neutrals, and universal greens. The colors strike a balance between elegance and practicality, reflecting a trend toward conscious consumption and slower fashion cycles. For Autumn/Winter 2024/2025, the colors are not only fun but functional — essential yet intriguing — offering a straightforward, confident, and no-fuss aesthetic.
I took three of the color trends I’ve been seeing for this upcoming season and rounded up some items in those shades below. Which one is your favorite — Red Orange, Fern, or Winter Sky?
Fern
Fern is a leafy green rooted in the natural world. It’s not as deep as olive green, but much darker than sage green. It exudes a soothing, nature-inspired tranquility with its rich, verdant hue. Its earthy tone brings a sense of calm and rejuvenation, making it a versatile choice for both interior design and fashion. Fern pairs nice with neutrals (white, black, and gray), other Earth tones (terracotta, brown, and sand), and warm metallics (gold and bronze).

Red Orange
Red orange is a vibrant shade connected to energy and empowerment. This bold color is a powerful choice for making a statement in fashion. It typically will be the focal point of the outfit, and pairs best with neutrals (white and beige) and deep blues (cobalt and navy).

Winter Sky
Winter sky is a cooling blue hue that takes your breath away. This serene, soft, muted blue hue has a delicate and airy quality to it, making it a refreshing contrast to bolder colors. It pairs well with warm tones (blush pink, beige, and taupe), earthy greens (sage, olive), and soft neutrals (white, cream, and light gray).
