My Favorite Dolce Vita Summer Accessories
Founded in 2001 on New York City’s Lower East Side, Dolce Vita (whose name means “sweet life” in Italian) was created. To goal was to create pieces that embodied a modern, laid-back sophistication inspired by their time studying in Italy.
I kept getting ads for their shoes and handbags (probably after online shopping for a competitor), and ended up saving so many pieces to my wish list. I love that they have trendier pieces but they’re usually in muted neutrals, meaning I can wear them with so many different outfits (I’m not a statement shoe girl — give me a neutral any day).
Here are some of the summer shoe and handbag trends Dolce Vita carries, including my personal picks.

Summer Shoe Trends Dolce Vita Gets Right
- Breathability. Dolce Vita’s Mary-Jane Espadrilles offering a ventilated jute sole and classic charm, while their mesh ballet flats reflect this trend with light, breathable uppers and toe-cap details in soft colors.
- Chunky soles. Finding a flat sandal this fall is proving difficult, since it seems like the trend now is chunk soles or platforms (flatforms, as some call it). As a petite gal myself, I can get behind the trend of added height without breaking my ankle in heels.
- Metallic hardware. Dolce Vita incorporates statement-making metal accents (think chains, oversized studs, and charms) on sandals, loafers, and sneakers to bring a bit of joy into everyday dress.
- Natural texture. Summer’s “resort-luxe” aesthetic shows up in raffia-woven materials across flats, mules, and espadrilles.
- Double buckle. Whether it’s a Birkenstock knockoff or the jelly sandal from our youth, the double buckle shape is popular once again this summer.
Dolce Vita Summer Handbags

- Woven textures. Raffia and crochet bags continue to shine, appearing across hobo, tote, and clutch silhouettes. There’s also macramé and netted designs, tied to the “fisherman aesthetic” which offer a fresh vibe perfect for summer.
- Caning. Caning (a woven rattan or cane panel that resembles a lattice or honeycomb pattern) is big this year, mimicking the popularity of the trend in furniture. It gives a retro-modern vibe that’s breathable enough for summer.
- Beads. The it bag of the summer is arguably the Staud beaded bag, but in general beaded bags of all styles are trending this summer. Dolce Vita offers a variety of these styles, whether you want something more youthful and fun or neutral and streamlined.
